One of my first forays into sewing and patchwork has turned out to be an almost daily joy for me.

My ‘girly’ doona cover has my favourite shades of green and smatterings of pink floral patterns – it is constructed of large patches of new and recycled fabric which I have top stitched onto a queens sized cream doona cover that I found and rescued.

Snuggling into it I’m reminded of the satisfaction that comes with figuring out a new skill, of the therapeutic benefits of being totally absorbed in creating, and that the simple things in life are truly the best.
